Cornwall, as a territory, has been the home to many people of many racial and political origins yet it is a territory which uniquely serves as a common point of reference for all. The modern concept of self-identification, 'finding one's roots etc.', is a political self-expression against the bland and coerced homogenisation of the State. A State which invariably reflects the values and identity of the dominant member of the State as it seeks to remold the multi-national groups within the State into some form of pseudo-nation. History, daily media dosage and spontaneous conversation clearly identifies this pseudo-nation as 'Greater-England' rather than what is naïvely thought to be Great Britain.
It is inevitable that the Celtic peoples of this Island of Great Britain feel unable to accept this euphemistic form of English Imperialism and is the reason for their demands for their own national identification. There is a need within this process for the English people themselves to reflect upon their lost identity and to see this within the universal context of self-identification and a world where the lost distinction between English and British has been politically manipulated.
Anyone who is proud of their Cornishness - whether derived from simply ancestry, by adoption or by consciously working to raise the profile of the Cornish Nation - are forced to work within an environment which is hostile to those aspirations. For opinion-creators and decision-makers, the default mode of operation is a total rejection of the existence of a Cornish, non-English, historical and cultural experience and consequently we see the insensitive presentation of Cornwall as some quaint 'English' place which must be brought into an 'English' 21st Century by a multiplicity of high level coercive, and low profile corrosive, mechanisms.
At a superficial level there may apear to be an anti-English bias within this site and it is necessary to refute this and to clarify the context within which such a view may be inferred. It is clear that the dominant political focus within the United Kingdom is concerned with an innate preservation of English Imperial supremacy and thus when considering the problems facing the Cornish people all fingers seem to point to the existence of a closed 'English' political mind.
All ultimate destinations for the Cornish people and their territory, during this controlled ride into, what will be shown to be, oblivion, exist because of a servile deference to this English Imperial will and an important thing to understand is that the accusatory finger is pointed at anyone who provides fuel for the journey - irrespective of their national origins. Pro-Cornish does not mean Anti-English.
It is conceivable that there are many English people who are not aware of what is going on nor, for that matter, care. As is also true of many Cornish people. We are all controlled and manipulated by our political leaders and who are, from a Cornish point of view, either English or aspire to be so. The phrase 'If the cap fits, wear it!' is most appropriate since I feel that the majority of people are only concerned with having an apathetic and peaceful existence. It is, as always, the politicians and political intellectuals who mess things up - and who must ultimately restore the balance - and it is solely with English Imperial political thought and actions that this site has its principal argument. The recently raised profile of promoting the concept of a 'British' nation is a flawed political argument for the same reasons.
However, even in our apathy, we have a personal responsibility to question what is going on. To acquiesce to anything is considered, in law, to be support. One can only ask the basic questions:
Are Cornish Rights less important than any others?
