A Standard Written Form of Cornish

A very welcome initiative has been prompted, presumably, by the recent negative(?) publicity on the ongoing schism over the correct orthography of the Cornish language.   This may be found by going to the 'Cornish Standard Written Form' site at CSWF

Please visit the site and sign the on-line Petition on this tremendously important aspect of our future heritage - if this is not a contradiction in terms

What must also be obvious (online and newspapers) is the concerted move to highlight the common aspects of the various spellings.   The big question then becomes: why has the schism been allowed to become so wide and, in some cases, defended very aggressively?

It is good to note that 2006 saw a greater emphasis on moves to achieve a Standard Written Form" for the language and it is anticipated that this will be reached by May 2007.   In order to keep up to date with this momentous event, please check out the Cornish Language Partnership webpages
